Lakay Media

Lakay Media is a digital media outlet built around Haitian culture, publishing in French for readers in Haiti and across the diaspora. Its blog covers Haitian cuisine, history, monuments and social practices — the breadfruit in Haitian cooking, the lakou as a social space, when Haitian proverbs are actually used — and its podcast, which it presents as the first French-language podcast devoted to Haitian culture, hands the microphone to guests proud of that heritage. Alongside them it publishes free downloadable guides. The team describes its purpose as making Haitian culture shine internationally through media that is innovative, rooted and creative, and its name — lakay, "home" in Haitian Creole — as more a feeling than a place.
