Faces of Haiti was founded on January 27, 2017 by Haitian media personality and filmmaker Samuel Dameus as an international photography project, opening with an exhibition at the Makaya Gallery in Miami before touring abroad. It moved to a fully digital format during the COVID-19 pandemic and now publishes independent news, culture and sport from Haiti and its diaspora to a large social media following, alongside a documentary arm, Boyo Films.
